An undertrial escaped from police custody at the Charlapalli Jail here on Tuesday.
According to the information, the prisoner Venkateswara Rao was taken to Nirmal in Adilabad district for production in a court and was brought back. While alighting from the police van, he took to his heels at high speed right before the jail gates as the policemen escorting him were off guard. Escort personnel complained about the escape to the Kushaiguda police. A hunt was on for the escaped prisoner. (NSS)
