New Delhi: Three times meal a day and prison buddies turned out to be the best time ever for a 52-year-old who stole a bike and petrol only to return back to prison life.
Gnanaprakasam from Chennai was lodged in Puzhal jail for theft in March and this prison company meant home to him. When released on bail after three months on June 19, he deliberately flashed his face in front of CCTV’s while stealing bike and petrol in order to get arrested and sent back to prison, India today reports.
Unhappy with family members who did not welcome his return, he took the step get back to prison said Tambaram assistant commissioner of police P Asokan to a news source.
Gnanaprakasam told the police that unlike home, there was nobody who called him lazy in jail and besides food, he was dearly missing his friends in jail.
The police officer was quoted as saying that Gnanaprakasam told the police that his wife and children were always nagging, abusing him and this made him return to better friends and food.
While stealing a bike from Kailasapuram First Street in West Tambaram, he made sure that his face was caught on CCTV camera.
After that he started to steal petrol from vehicles parked on the road whenever the fuel ran out and luck turned in his favor when some people caught him red handed and called the police.
During interrogation he revealed he was desperate to get arrested.
