Priority to Handicapped in housing scheme: FM

Hyderabad: Finance Minister Etala Rajender today said that the government will accord priority to physically disabled in the state in allocation of double bedroom housing scheme for the poor. Flats at ground floor will be given to them in the housing scheme besides giving two wheelers and tricycles to the eligible he said. He claimed that Telangana is only the state in India providing free of cost Two-Wheelers and Tri-Cycles to the physically challenged persons.

At Nampally Exhibition grounds Rajender distributed the two wheelers and tricycles and other aids to the selected physically disabled persons. Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, Ministers T Srinivas Yaav, T Nageshwar Rao and officials were present, Rajender said that the scheme being extended to those studying degree and above courses. In the second phase these vehicles will be given to those studying degree and remained without jobs he said. The State Government will give priority to them in providing double bedroom facility in the state he said. He said that Telangana is only the state brought in a new act in 2016 for disabled welfare and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is determined for their development. We have allotted Rs 1 cr for vehicles distribution to help disabled with no jobs.

Nageshwar Rao said that KCR gets the credit for developing Telangana a top state in all sectors and offering 5 per cent reservations to them. The TRS Government is providing Rs 1500 pension to physically challenged against previous Rs 500 he said.
Narsimha Reddy said that the government is for the development of physically disabled. It is good to supply them with the vehicles he said. Mhamood Ali also said that the government will give priority to them to get double bedroom houses. (NSS)
