President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the passing away of filmmaker Daggubati Ramanaidu.
“I am saddened to learn about the passing away of Shri Daggubati Ramanaidu,” President Mukherjee said in a condolence message to his wife, Rajeswari, on Friday.
“D. Ramanaidu was a Parliamentarian and acclaimed film producer. His contribution to the Indian film industry, especially Telugu cinema was recognized by the nation through the Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012. In his death, the film industry has lost a creative personality who left an indelible mark on the Indian cinema,” he added.
“I pray to the Almighty to give your family and you the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to all members of your family,” the President added.
Legendary filmmaker D. Ramanaidu was cremated last afternoon with full state honours in Hyderabad.
Before the funeral, his body was kept at the Ramanaidu Studios for the public to pay their last respects.
