Dubai, March 31: Minister of Health Dr Hanif Hassan opened a new preventive medicine complex in Khorfakkan on Wednesday.
The new complex offers a wide range of services, including maternity and childhood, dental, school health, labour tests and vaccinations for all categories.
During the opening, the minister said that studies show that prevention is better than treatment, if it is on time. “The ministry is working on several new projects in the Northern Emirates that will be opened soon,” he said.
Dr Mahmood Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Policies at the Ministry of Health, said the centre that has been operational for a while, has issued about 2,000 birth and death and 60 premarital certificates each month during 2010.
“The school health section supervises about 22 public and private schools that include 9,000 students. In 2010, about 41,000 children and mothers in Khorfakkan and surrounding areas received vaccinations,” he said.
