Prestigious consignment flagged off from MIDHANI

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL, Mumbai), Executive Director (Engineering and Procurement) K B Dixit today said the Nuclear Energy sector has achieved self sufficiency in the country and the state-owned firm may embark upon development of Ligh Water Reactor in future. Speaking after flagging off the end fitting forged billets made of Special Stainless Stell grade consignment in the presence of MIDHANI Chairman and Managing Director M Narayana Rao at the Hyderabad-based Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (MIDHANI), a Defence Public Sector Undertaking, here, he said the Defence PSU has been the most reliable supplier for special alloys and critical steels for nuclear sector and the co-operation between Midhani and NPCIL as a family should continue, he opined. Midhani faced several challenges while developing the end fitting forgings and the demand for special steels in Power sector, Nuclear Energy Sector and Strategic Sectors is increasing, he said. Defence PSU is positioning itself for an increased share of the growing market by undertaking an expansion and modernisation programme, he said. A range of new high temperature alloys for applications in demanding working environments are under development and would have applications in ultra super critical steam generators for augmenting India’s energy security, he added. MIDHANI has successfully executed the prestigious order and supplied 900 Nos of End Fitting forgings made of special stainless steel grade to NPCIL, a leading public sector unit involved in setting up of Nuclear Power reactors all over the country. The order was bagged by MIDHANI against stiff competition and the components are used in Nuclear Power generators.
