Hyderabad, December 16: The Osmania University students Joint Action Committee (JAC) has asked the elected representatives from Telangana region to form a JAC and press for the introduction of separate Telangana Bill in Parliament at the earliest. The JAC also trained its guns on Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for his unified Andhra stand.
They burnt him in effigy because of his support for a unified State. The JAC also objected to the lack of reaction on behalf of elected representatives from the region when Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal created a stir in the city on Monday with his proposed hunger strike.
“All the MLAs, MLCs and MPs from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, irrespective of their party affiliations, got united within six hours of the announcement from the Centre about separate Telangana. The elected representatives from Telangana could not join hands for the cause of the region since the past 60 years,” JAC leader Anil Kumar told reporters at the Arts College on Tuesday.
Elected representatives should form a JAC and fight for the introduction of the Bill, the JAC demanded.
The students body also criticised the Government for not acting against Rajagopal whose acts in the city on Monday were “provocative”. “The Government cracked down on TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and registered cases against him when he tried to launch his fast at Siddipet. The same was not done in the case of Rajagopal even as his action resulted in inciting regional passions. Instead, he was escorted to the Chief Minister’s residence by the police,” the JAC criticised.
The JAC leaders also demanded the immediate release of the seven of its members who are still languishing in prison.
