Imphal, March 09: President Pratibha Patil would travel to Manipur on a two-day visit starting tomorrow, official sources said today.
The President’s schedule has not yet been announced in view of the boycott call of the visit by some insurgent organisations, they said.
Manipur People’s Liberation Front (MPLF), formed by major insurgent organisations of United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), called for boycott of Patil’s visit and a 40-hour general strike in the state from midnight.
In a statement, the MPLF which has been fighting for what it called “an independent Manipur” for a few decades, said Patil’s visit would not bring “anything good'” for Manipur.
