President Pranab Mukherji is scheduled to stay in Hyderabad, the joint capital of two Telugu States, until July 8.
During his 10-day sojourn, the President is expected to pay a visit to Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateshwara in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh on July 1. And on his return to Hyderabad, the President will attend a program to receive first copy of a book “Uniki” authored by Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao at HICC on July 3.
According to the information, the President will launch “Nakshatra Vaatika at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in Bollaram. In the meanwhile, Pranab may attend some other programs in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other States as per his schedule and participate in other developmental activities.
Taking cue from Governor ESL Narsimhan, the State Government officials and top police brass of Telangana made elaborate security arrangements to ensure the President get a comfort and secured stay. Military officials and special security officials of the President seized the entire Bollaram area to provide fool-proof security. The President’s visit, though a routine one every year, now assumes significance as the heads of two Telugu States K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu are at loggerheads over the infamous cash-for-vote scam. It is likely that the leaders of various parties may make a beeline to meet the President. (NSS)
