The Union Cabinet has decided to dissolve the Andhra Pradesh state Assembly, which may be the last Assembly for the combined state.
The Cabinet has also decided to extend the President’s Rule for two more months.
The Cabinet will make a recommendation to the President Pranab Mukherjee in this regard. The decisions were taken in today’s meeting of the Union cabinet.
The Cabinet was mulling over getting Parliament’s nod for the President’s rule imposed two months ago, but due to elections, the Parliament cannot be convened right now.
The Union cabinet has now thought of extending the President’s rule by an executive order.
But the question posed by President Pranab Mukherjee to the Cabinet is: when the initial imposition of President’s rule could not get Parliament’s nod, how the Centre can extend it further?
But it seems the President is now convinced about extension of the President’s Rule.
