New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Wednesday greeted the nation on the occasion of Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Chaitra Sukladi and Cheti Chand, which mark the beginning of the traditional New Year in different parts of the country.
In his message, Mukherjee said: “On the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava and Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens.”
“These festivals heralding the New Year in different parts of the country usher in spring – a time of hope and creativity when nature shares its generosity with us. On these joyous occasions, let us resolve to share happiness and joy with others,” he said.
“May these festivals strengthen the bonds of amity and friendship among our people and foster peace, harmony and prosperity in our country,” he added.
In his separate message, Dr. Singh said that these New Year festivals, celebrated in different parts of the country, symbolise our cultural diversity and inherent unity.
“May these festivals herald peace, joy and prosperity to all, ” he added. (ANI)
