New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday urged to establish a healthy ecosystem to harness the innovative potential of the country’s population.
“Innovation has a strong linkage with development, particularly grassroots innovation,” President Mukherjee said.
He stated that education is the seed of a nation’s destiny, adding that there is a need for empathetic stress on inclusive innovation in the learning modules.
“The role of science and technology in leveraging inclusive innovations is evident when we see the pivotal contributions made by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO),” President Mukherjee asserted.
He emphasized that the benefit of innovation will accrue when an idea gets converted into a useful product.
“Early investment in science and technology has given us rich dividends. We need to continue providing impetus to science education and research in our institutions,” he added.
President Mukherjee presented the ninth National Biennial Awards for Grassroots Innovations and Outstanding Traditional Knowledge at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday on the opening day of the week-long ‘Festival of Innovations.’
The ‘Exhibition of Innovations’ will remain open till March 10 for the public.
All visitors to the Mughal Gardens will be able to visit the Exhibition.
