President Mukherjee greets Suriname on Independence Day

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Suriname on the occasion of their Independence Day.

In his message to his Excellency Desire Delano Bouterse, President of the Republic of Suriname, the President said: “On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me immense pleasure to convey to you and to the people of Suriname warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your Independence Day.”

“India and Suriname enjoy warm and friendly relations. Our bilateral ties have been strengthened through CELAC and CARICOM. There is further scope for bilateral cooperation in diverse fields including healthcare, forestry, minerals, culture, infrastructure development and capacity building. I am sure that our relations will be strengthened further in the coming years,” PresidentMukherjee added.

“On this occasion, I wish to convey my best wishes for your happiness and good health as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Suriname,” he said.(ANI)
