Guangzhou (China): President Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Guangzhou, China, on Tuesday from where he will begin his four-day state visit.
He was received at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport by the Vice Governor of China’s Guangdong province, Mr. He Zhongyou, Vice Minister, Liu Zhenmin and other goverment Officials.
Earlier in the day, President Mukherjee embarked on a four day visit to China, where he is expected to exchange views on all aspects of India’s ties with Chinese leadership.
The President was seen off by Vice President Hamid Ansari,Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan, the the three service chiefs and others.
Guangzhou is one of the most important industrial centers of China.
He is also expected to participate in an Indian community event this evening.
On the second leg of his visit, the President will reach Beijing tomorrow where he will have talks with the top leaders of China, including with his counterpart President Xi Jinping, on bilateral, regional and International issues.
The President is accompanied by a delegation of top Indians academicians including Vice Chancellors of Central Universities and Directors of IITs, where they will sign a MoU with top Chinese research and educational Institutions.
Earlier, the pPresident had said,””We seek a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable settlement of the boundary question and, pending the boundary settlement, to maintain peace and tranquillity in the border areas. Both sides should strive to ensure that the outstanding issues are addressed in a manner that demonstrates mutual sensitivity to each other’s concerns, interests and aspiration.”
President Mukherjee said both India and China should enhance the mutual trust and understanding through stepped-up dialogue on political, security and strategic issues. (ANI)
