Hyderabad, January 1: The President, Ms Pratibha K. Patil, on Friday given a ceremonial send-off at Begumpet airport for New Delhi at the end of her eight-day winter sojourn in Hyderabad.
The Governor, Mr E S L Narasimhan, the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Legislative Council Chairman, Dr Chakrapani, the former chief minister, Mr K Rosaiah, the GHMC Mayor, Ms Banda Kartheeka Reddy, and the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Ms D K Aruna, were among those who gave send-off to the President.
The President, along with her husband Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat left to New Delhi in a special plane from Begumpet airport at 9 AM.
The President had arrived for a week-long winter sojourn to the city last Friday. She had stayed at the Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bollarum during her visit and participated in the various cultural programmes in the city. She had also inaugurated a Herbal Garden in the premises of the Rashtrapati Nilayam, at Bollarum in Secunderabad on Saturday.
During the seven-day visit, Patil graced the Second International Kuchipudi Dance Convention held at the GMC Balayogi Stadium at Gachibowli and also the Golden Jubilee celebrations of National Institute of Rural Development in the city.
