Aleppo (Syria), November 30: Indian President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil concluded her four-day visit to the Syria on Monday. It is hoped that this visit would improve bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Patil returned to Delhi after visiting the International Centre for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in Aleppo, a historical city in Syria.
Prsident Patil had reached Syria on the second phase of her visit to West Asian region and she is the first head of the Indian state to visit Syria. During her visit to Syria and United Arab Emirates both the countries extended their support on India’s quest for permanent membership in UN Security Council.
On the occasion of the visit of President Pratibha Patil Syrian leadership invited Indian companies to participate in the sectors of power and hydrocarbons and also sought Indian cooperation in phosphates.
India has expressed its interest in establishing Power projects in Syria.
