Hyderabad, May 19: State Congress President Minority department Mr. Mohammad Siraj Uddin on Wednesday submitted a written memorandum to Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad highlighting the injustices meted out to Muslims in the state. It also focused destruction of Waqf properties and preference given to non Congress people in distribution of posts ignoring Muslim leaders of the party. A copy of the memorandum was also sent to Congress president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
It should be recalled that Mr. Mohammad Siraj Uddin had called on Union Minister for Health and In-charge of the state Congress Affairs Mr. Ghulab Nabi Azad on May 16 at Lake View Gust House along with a delegation of Muslim leaders of Congress and had discussed on Muslim issues. Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad had directed them to submit a written report regarding the issues and waqf properties, on which State Congress President Minority department submitted a written memorandum to Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday in which injustices done to Muslims right from the Grampanchayat to state level posts are underlined. It was claimed in the memorandum that this is the reason why the Muslims who are said to be the backbone of Congress
feel alienated from the Congress.
The memorandum also gave a detailed report regarding destruction and acquisition of waqf properties by the government. It also discussed various problems faced by the Muslim community in the state.
