Panchayat Raj Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Ramarao today said a Rural Development Plan will be implemented to give a face-lift to villages in the State as per the guidelines of the 14th Finance Commission.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting here on Saturday, KTR directed the officials to prepare a plan with long-term objective of five years to provide basic amenities like water, education, power, health, sanitation, social security and roads. He said through active coordination by the departments, every village will be transformed as that of Gangadevapally, which broke records with better amenities. Working groups will be formed for achieving targets at the rural revel, he said. “We will add the feedback and suggestions got through “Our Village Our Plan” scheme in the new program for village development through using funds from the Centre, State and locally collected taxes and other financial resources, he added.
Apart from that the villages will be given targets on the schemes such as greenery, Mission Kakatiya and pensions, KTR said. “Villages will get due recognition and encouragement for achieving the targets in sanitation, literacy and greenery”, he added. He also stressed the need for evolving a plan of action incorporating it in the village development plan to be made public. He exuded confidence that the program will prove handy “once we involve self-help groups, retired employees and people and conduct training classes for local leaders. (NSS)
