Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials to prepare an Irrigation Action Plan for Rabi season.
Speaking at a review meeting here on Tuesday, Harish Rao asked the officials to come up with a detailed plan for Rabi to distribute waters to the tail-end farmer. An action plan project-wise and district-wise on irrigation projects be formed, he told officials.
Harish Rao said he would hold another meeting on Wednesday to discuss on Rabi, the ongoing projects, project-wise action plan, completion of Mission Kakatiya second phase, projects and preparation for third phase of water scheme works. In the meeting, Harish Rao is to finalise an action plan for third phase of Mission Kakatiya works and give instructions on the speedy completion of ongoing projects. The government wants to distribute irrigation waters to all the farmers avoiding wastage. He asked the officials concerned to release waters to nine lakh acres under Sri Ram Sagar project and waters to 6.40 lakh acres under Nagarjuna Sagar left canal for second crop. He will review various projects on Wednesday.
Earlier at a program in Medak, Harish Rao said 10000 mw was kept for agriculture activity and asked the officials to provide uninterrupted power supply to farming. Besides keeping ready adequate number of transformers, he asked the officials to implement nine-hour power supply as promised. The State government will complete the Kaleshwaram project by spending Rs 25,000 crore, he added. (NSS)
