Preparations of the venue were underway here today amidst high security ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally .
The rally, which is scheduled to be held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on November 30, is expected to see an estimated 50,000 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers participate.
“All are working together for the rally and security arrangements have been properly made keeping in mind various threats. At least 50,000 BJP workers are supposed to take part,” Assam Police SSP AP Tiwari told the media.
Prime Minister Modi’s whirlwind tour of the North-East states, which starts on Saturday, will see him attend two functions on his arrival in Guwahati. The next day, he will be addressing the All India Conference of DGPs and IGPs and the BJP rally before flying to Imphal to attend the Sangai Festival.
On Monday, his final day of the tour, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Hornbill Festival in Kohima before leaving for Agartala to launch a power project in south Tripura.
This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Assam since winning the Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
