Pregnant female prisoner escapes from hospital

Thane police have launched a manhunt for a woman prisoner who fled from a ward in the Thane district civil hospital in the early hours of today, the police said. Sujata Bhimsing Rathod, 30, who is said to be five-months pregnant,was brought to the hospital from the Kalyan jail on Friday after she complained of abdominal pain.

This morning she is believed to have fled from the women’s ward. A case has been registered against her at the Thane town police station. The undertrial Sujata Bhimsingh Rathod, who escaped from Thane civil hospital on Sunday, was said to be peddling marijuana. The Narcotics Cell of the Thane police had registered an offence against her at the Ambernath police station. Ratod was five-months pregnant and was moved to the Thane civil hospital from the Kalwa jail on Friday. UNI
