Abu Dhabi, May 01: The preachers, in their unified Friday sermon, has called on the sponsors and companies to give labourers their full rights, especially on the limitation of working hours and appropriate wages.
On the occasion of International Labour Day celebrated on May 1, the preachers asked the companies and sponsors not to deprive the workers of their weekly offs and annual leave, in addition to the other rights identified by the labour laws and the contract between the worker and the sponsor.
The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and AWQAF (Endowment) said during the Friday sermon that Islam grants workers their natural rights with a view to establishing social justice and to provide a decent life for themselves and their families.
The Friday preachers stressed in their sermon the Islamic principle of protecting the rights of the workers, and establishing relationship between the employer and employee through integration and cooperation.
They added that employers are required to grant the rights of his employees, which are stipulated in the contract, and not try to diminish any of them.
