Pre-monsoon rains lash several parts of Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Heavy pre-monsoon rains lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh leading to sharp fall in maximum temperatures in the state.

Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district was wettest in the region with 105 mm rains, while Berthin and Kasauli received 82 mm and 73 mm rains respectively, followed by Paonta Sahib 70 mm, Arki 69 mm, Bhawarna 65 mm and Dehra Gopipur 63 mm. State capital Shimla received 15 mm rains.

Due to the rains, the maximum day temperature in Una plummeted to 32.2 degrees Celsius, which yesterday had recorded a high of 40.6 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature in Bhuntar was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Dharamsala and Solan both 29.8 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 28.4 degrees Celsius, Nahan 27.9 degrees Celsius, Shimla 23.6 degrees Celsius.

However, there was not much change in minimum temperatures. Una recorded a low of 25.5 degrees Celsius, while Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Nahan, Palampur, Mandi and Kangra recorded minimum temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius.

The local MeT office has predicted rains or thundershowers in lower, mid and higher hills over the next six days.
