Rajiv Gandhi International Airport which was built on Waqf land by demolishing Masjid-e-Omer Farooq and annihilating an Ashur Khana and a graveyard has once again become the cause for Muslims’ offence and blasphemy of religious object. According to reliable sources two days ago airport administration had conducted an award function entitled “10 million happy flyers this year. The prayer rugs used by Muslim workers and passengers to offer prayers were used during the award function as carpets. The most insulting aspect was that the airport officials, workers and other people were seen trampling the sacred prayers rugs with their shoes. Sources said that people stood with shoes and had photo session, on the prayer rugs which are used by Muslims for prayers in the state of ablution. They didn’t bother that the act would hurt the sentiments of Muslims.
Meanwhile anger prevails among Muslims on this blasphemous act of airport administration. Government and relevant authorities should take strong note of this offensive and blasphemous act of airport administration and ensure that such thing is not repeated in the future.
