Shab-e-Barat, the night of deliverance, falls on the 15 of the Islamic month of Shaban. It is an occasion for people to seek forgiveness of their sins.
But the image of Islam is getting battered year after year by the irresponsible misdirected youth going on high speed doing stunts on roads.
Post midnight, over a few stunt bikers zip across the City, flouting all traffic rules.
Muslim community members along with police on Monday appealed youth to avoid doing any activity, such as speeding on motorcycles like in bike stunts, bike rallies and races that could cause them cause detriment on the night of Shab-e-Baraat.
“We request the devotees visiting the Kabrasthan and Dargah that it is the special night of seeking forgiveness and repenting to Almighty Allah, remembering our past sins and sincerely vowing that one will never commit sins in the future. We request all the devotees not to create any nuisance and avoid motorcycles, said Sohail Khandwani.
The Mumbai police and the trustees of Haji Ali and Mahim Dargah have decided to deploy at least 200 volunteers and security personnel besides installation of CCTV surveillance cameras to keep eye on revellers.
It’s a request to parents also to stop their children from taking their bikes out on Shab- e- Barat.
