Pratyusha suicide: Rahul Raj Singh’s bail plea rejected

Mumbai : A Mumbai court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of actress Pratyusha Banerjee’s boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, stating it is yet to be probed whether it was abetment to suicide or murder.

Rahul, who was lodged for abetment to suicide, yesterday filed the bail plea in the Dindoshi session court.

Rahul’s lawyer Ashok Sarogi moved the application after which the matter was adjourned for today.

The development came hours after Rahul’s previous lawyer Neeraj Gupta withdrew from the case.

Rahul, currently in hospital, was on Tuesday booked for abetment to suicide after the police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the actress’ mother Soma Banerjee at the Bangurnagar Police Station.

A case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide), 504, 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC has been registered against Rahul.

Rahul was earlier quizzed extensively by a team of the Mumbai Police. He was later hospitalised after he complained of chest pain and breathlessness.

The 24-year-old former ‘Balika Vadhu’ actress was found dead at her home on April 1 in a suspected case of suicide due to stress in her relationship with boyfriend Rahul. (ANI)
