Prasanna says he will take part in Jagan’s yatra

Nellore, October 12: Telugu Desam dissident leader and Kovur MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, who created a flutter with his 8-page open letter to party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, making allegations against him, fired yet another salvo today by declaring that he would participate in the Odarpu Yathra of Jagan in the district. Speaking to mediapersons here today, he said that he had decided to participate in the yatra ‘from the beginning to the end’.

He said his participation in the yatra would not attract punishment under the anti-defection law as the yatra was not being organised by the Congress party but by Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy in his individual capacity. Defending his decision, Reddy said the late Rajasekhara Reddy was a remarkable politician who had secured a permanent place in the hearts of crores of poor people by initiating several welfare schemes. “These poor and downtrodden see Rajasekhara Reddy in Jagan, forcing me to join Odarpu yatra as mark of respect to the late leader.’’

Moreover, he said, the yatra was apolitical and his participation should not be seen as being anti-party (TDP). “I decided to participate in the programme on humanitarian grounds and there was no vested

or political interest in it,’’ he averred.

Meanwhile, TDP district president S Chandra Mohan Reddy found fault with his party MLA’s decision to participate in Jagan’s yatra and said the Assembly Speaker should take action against Prasanna Kumar Reddy as his action would attract disqualification under the anti-defection law.
