The last director general of police of undivided Andhra Pradesh Bayyarapu Prasada Rao, who has been transferred to Home department as Principal Secretary, was given a warm farewell by the police officials and personnel here on Thursday.
The marvelous farewell function was held at Amberpet Police Grounds where a large number of police officials as well as retired directors general of police were present. Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma and his AP counterpart JV Ramudu received the outgoing officer.
Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Sharma said he has not seen such an amiable officer like Prasada Rao so far. Describing Prasada Rao as a role model in the Police department, Anurag Sharma said the former was known for sincerity, discipline and commitment. JV Ramudu recalled that he met Prasada Rao for the first time during interview in the Union Public Service Commission and became good friends ever since.
Replying to felicitation, Prasada Rao recalled the services of several police officials, who laid down lives at the hands Naxalites and terrorists while discharging their functions. He said he was proud of State police personnel for their exemplary services. (NSS)
