Pranab hits out at Trinamool for tie-up collapse

Kolkata, May 11: WBPCC chief Pranab Mukherjee today hit out at Trinamool Congress, holding it responsible for collapse of the alliance with between them in the upcoming civic election in the city.

“We had made a minimum demand (seat-sharing for civic bodies)…Alliance is forged to increase and consolidate one’s strength. But if someone means it to liquidate the party, then we have to wind up the party,” Mukherjee said

“If anyone prefers to ignore the 126-year-old Indian National Congress, let it do so. The Britishers too sought to ignore us, but could not,” he said.

In an apparent reference to TC’s reaping “rich dividend” out of the alliance with Congress in the last Lok Sabha elections where it won 19 seats, Mukherjee said, “Kindly remember that its the people who came in support for the alliance. Voters were in favour of this alliance politically..
