Govt. of A.P. has launched “Prajahitam” programme for creating its awareness among the public about the welfare schemes.
Mr. K. Lakshminarayana, Minister for Agriculture and Ms. D. Aruna Kumari, Minister for information and Public relation inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Mr. R.V. Chandravadan IAS, Commissioner of Information and Public Relations welcomed the guests. Dr. D.K. Aruna told that Govt. is lunching many welfare programmes but the people are not aware of their implementations and hence these programmes are not reaching the public. Keeping this in mind “Prajahitam” programme has been started. This programme will be held once a week.
Every week, one department will participate in this programme and give the details of its functioning to the public. Prajahitam programme wil be helpful in avoiding and rectifying the lapses in the implementation of the welfare programmes. Ms. D.K. Aruna desired the people to cooperate with the department in creating awareness about the Govt. programmes.
Agriculture Minister, Mr. K. Lakshminarayan gave the details of the functioning of his department and the welfare measures adopted by the Govt. for the benefit of the farmers. He said that Govt. has earmarked Rs. 2572 in the budget for the year 2012-14 for developing agricultural sector. In addition to it, a subsidy of Rs. 1816 crore has also been allocated. He informed that for Khareef season for this year, a target of 218 lakh tone production has been fixed. Farmers were provided 15.5 lakh tonne seeds. As a precautionary measure 7 lakh metric tones buffer stock has been kept.
