Praja Rajyam urges Government to restore peace

Hyderabad, December 14: Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi met Chief Minister K Rosaiah here today and urged him to take steps to restore normalcy in the State.

He met the chief minister along with his party leaders K Venkat Rao, C Ramachandraiah, K Vidyadhara Rao, B Vedavyas, M Umamalliswara Rao, B Srinivas, B Vedavyas, K Subba Rayudu and Gautham, and submitted a memorandum to him. The memorandum said that the law and order situation in the State had deteriorated and a tense situation was prevailing.

“It will be better for the government to take the opinions of all political parties, intellectuals and students into consideration to find a way out of the crisis,’’ he noted in his

letter. Speaking to reporters later, the PRP president said that people of the State were living in a state of fear and were feeling insecure. To a question about the resignations of his party legislators, he said that they were forced to bow to the pressure of the people and same was the case with the MLAs of other parties. Asked if he too would resign Chiranjeevi said,

“I am the leader of a party. I treat peoples of the three regions equally. I do not confine myself to a region, district or constituency.’’ Blaming the Central and State governments for the present crisis, he asserted that his party still stuck to its manifesto which endorsed the demand for creation of a separate TelanganaState.

He, however, evaded a reply to the question on the party’s stand on adoption of a resolution by the Assembly favouring statehood for Telangana.

Chiranjeevi spent about 50 minutes with the chief minister and discussed the
present situation in the State.

The chief minister is believed to have narrated to the PRP chief the sequence of events since his departure for Delhi on the 9th of this month. According to a PRP leader, Rosaiah had expressed his anguish over the present conditions in the State and unhappiness at the decision taken by the Centre.
