Praja Patham’ a success, claims AP Minister

Hyderabad, May 13: Andhra Pradesh government today said the month-long ‘Praja Patham’ programme (taking administration to the doorsteps of people) is a success with officials attending to a number of complaints from people.

“The attendance of MLAs from not only Congress but TDP, Praja Rajyam and Left has been about 98 per cent. Problems of people related to scarcity of drinking water, employment under NREGS, health and other issues have been successfully addressed during the programme,” Panchayat Raj Minister B Satyanarayana told reporters.

The programme, during which ministers and other public representatives accompanied by officials, visit villages and towns for attending to the problems of people, was launched by Chief Minister K Rosaiah on April 19. It will come to an end tomorrow.

Urban Development Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said ‘Praja Patham’ was conducted in 3025 wards out of the total 4954 wards in the state till May 10.

He said 1604 complaints regarding drinking water have been received out of which 1428 have been solved. Out of 1477 complaints regarding street lights, 1400 were addressed.

Rural Development Minister V Vasant Kumar said the programme helped in spreading awareness on various aspects of NREGS. Workers under NREGS have been given 50 per cent allowance.

The ministers said full details of ‘Praja Patham’ would be known after compiling the data from all over the state.
