Gurgaon: XI class student accused of murdering 7-year-old Pradyuman will be tried as an adult and not juvenile the Juvenile Justice Board had ruled today.
The Juvenile Justice Board, Gurugram had transferred the Pradyuman murder case to the District And Sessions Court which will begin its hearing from 22 December.
Sushil Tekriwal, the lawyer appearing for Pradyuman’s family said, “During subsequent proceedings, the convict will be considered as an adult.”
Pradyuman’s father Varun Thakur thanked the judiciary for their decision on trying the accused as the adult, he said, “We always knew that the journey is long but we will go till the end to get justice for my child and all other children who might be vulnerable”.
7-year-old Pradyuman was found dead with his throat slit inside the toilet of Gurgaon’s Ryan International School on September 8.
The case which was shifted to CBI who had nabbed a senior class XI student in connection with the murder case. The CBI also said the murder was committed in three to four minutes.
The accused had reportedly murdered Pradyuman by slitting his throat in order to get a holiday on 8 September and avoid the scheduled parent-teacher meeting (PTM) and an examination.
