HYDERABAD: Amjed Ullah Khan of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has started a unique trend of teaching the policemen of flouting the very traffic rules.
The campaign #PracticeWhatYouPreach is aimed at getting cops to follow traffic rules and is also in response to the heavy-handed challans for minor infractions.
The MBT spokesperson gathered some photos and videos clips of cops across the city violating the traffic rules, reported The News Minute.
He captured the photos and videos of men in uniform riding triple seat on two-seater bikes, numbers missing from the bike’s number plate, talking on mobile phones or riding bikes without helmets which clearly show the violation of the basic traffic rules.
Amjed Ullah took his Twitter handle and started posting the pictures. He also tagged Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police MM Reddy, and KT Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister on Twitter to bring the matter to their attention.
The campaign has gone viral on social media and is receiving a huge response from not only from Hyderabadis but also from all across the country. It gets immediately adopted with people started sharing photographs of traffic police violations the rules.
“I can’t say that it’s my campaign anymore… I have been sent more than 300 photos in the last few days alone,” TNM quoted Khan as saying.
Justify the campaign Khan said, Why police officers should be exempt from rules? ‘Since the law is equal for everyone, we are asking them to change themselves, and practice what they preach.”
“They fine us for not wearing a seat belt, but I don’t see a single person in a minister’s convoy wearing one. They constantly fine us for not wearing a helmet, but do nothing when policemen ride around without one,” he said.
