Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman and former President Asif Ali Zardari has left for Dubai, according to sources, as the party struggles for its survival following the PPP chief’s controversial remarks against the military.
Zardari had lashed out at the Pakistani military for overstepping its boundaries, warning it to “stop character assassination of PPP” and said “if we start then don’t know how many Generals will be exposed starting from inception of Pakistan to date”.
Mohammed Jamil was quoted by Daily Times as saying that what the PPP chief tried to say was that “nobody, including the military, should question PPP leaders for their involvement in corruption”.
According to Dawn News, the party sources are unaware of the reasons for Zardari’s international trip to the United Arab Emirates and the number of days he planned to stay there.
Zardari flew to Dubai from Karachi a day after his elder sister and key leader of the party Faryal Talpur made the same move on Tuesday. (ANI)^
