Jakarta, September 02: Indonesia’s seismology agency said on Wednesday it had recorded a powerful 7.3 earthquake near the main island of Java.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake with a magnitude of 7.4 at a depth of 37 km (23 miles). Its epicentre was 142 km (88 miles) southwest of Tasikamalaya in West Java, the Indonesian agency said.
Residents in the capital Indonesia reported buildings shaking and some offices were evacuated.
