Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today assured investors and industrialists that the power shortage in the state would be solved ‘very soon’. The investors and industrialists need not worry about the power shortage. Mr Reddy said ‘Yes there is a problem. We are aware of it and we are doing everything at our command to overcome the problem’. The state Government was trying to overcome the power shortage and create a more congenial atmosphere for industrialists, he said, speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Regional Council meet here. He said the power shortage in the state was is due to non supply of gas to the gas-based power plants and added of power projects 8500 mw capacity capable of producing were lying idle. The gas-based projects are getting only 34 per cent gas supply. The power shortage is temporary. Hydel power generation is also comparatively poor, he admitted. UNI
