Power nerve line for economic metamorphosis: Omar

Jammu, September 29: Describing power generation as vital for economic progress, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said a multi-faceted approach has been introduced to harness hydro-electric potential of the state.

“Power is nerve line for economic metamorphosis. Our government is focussing on power sector in a major way. A multi-faceted approach has been introduced to harness hydro-electric potential of the state,” Omar said, while inaugurating the 120 MW SEWA Hydel Project in Basholi belt of Kathua district.

The chief minister noted that the state has been blessed with plenty of natural beauty and water resources.

“The economic prosperity of the state is in development of power and tourism sectors. We are striving for power projects in PPP mode as joint ventures,” he said, adding improvement in distribution and transmission of power is one of the priorities of the government.
