Hyderabad, April 16: Frequent power disruptions in the city has become a bane for free flow of traffic, with traffic signals turning dysfunctional.
Over the past few days, irregular functioning of traffic signals has been found across the city.
With power supply by the CPDCL irregular, it has added to problems of an already chaotic city traffic.
At around 11.30 a.m on Friday, irritated BPO employees were seen picking up heated arguments with traffic police at the Jubilee Hills check post junction as their vehicle got stuck in a traffic jam for more than a hour.
“Failure of power supply to signal posts is making most traffic signals dysfunctional. Even through traffic police are trying to clear jams, they have failed as most motorists indulge in violation of rules,’’ KS Narayan, a BPO employee said.
KM Madhu, assistant commissioner of police, Traffic admitted that frequent power disruptions had added to the traffic problem.
