Power crisis, suicides by farmers in TS

The TRS Government was squarely held responsible for not properly and seriously pursuing with the central government to get resolved various issues being faced by Telangana State.

Speaking to the media the TTDP leaders Erraballi Dayakar Rao , L. Ramana and others on Saturday lambasted the TRS leadership and ministers in failing to interact seriously with the central ministers and persuading them to come up with required assistance to resolve numerous problems confronting the state.

The TTDP leaders outburst against the TRS Government came in the wake of the charge by the Telangana Irrigation Minister T.Harish Rao and others that the central government was not responding positively to numerous representations made by the Telangana Government with regard to the raging power crisis in the state.

It might be mentioned here that Harish Rao went hammer and tongs at the Union Energy Minister Piyush Goel for stating that there was no representation from the Telangana Government regarding the state’s power shortage. Also Harish Rao’s ire seemed to be over the denial of the Union Agriculture Minister about the Telangana Government’s request for ensuing minimum support price for the farm produce, especially to come to the rescue of the cotton growers. As a matter of fact he said that there were over 100 representations pending before the central government regarding the power crisis and problems of the farmers. Even the Telangana Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister have taken up the issue with the central leadership, Harish Rao had stated.

As if counter the claims being made by the TRS ministers, Dayakar Rao pointed out that when a delegation of TTDP legislators and leaders had called on the Union Ministers like Nirmala Seetharaman and others and represented about the plight of the farmers, especially of the cotton growers and about the power shortage, they had all assured to come to the assistance of the State Government in a big way to come out of the problems.

Dayakar Rao said that an assurance was made to the TTDP delegation by the central leaders to send an official team to study the hardships being faced by the farmers including the cotton growers and provide the needed assistance. Apart from ensuring minimum support price for the farm produce, the central leaders also assured to ensure that the Cotton Corporation of India would buy the cotton stocks from the growers. An assurance was also made with regard to additional supply of 1000 mw power to the state, he elaborated.

The TTDP legislator further stated that the central ministers had also revealed that while the AP State Government was constantly sending representations and reports to secure the central assistance, the Telangana Government was not acting in the same manner. He wanted the TRS Government and Ministers to take up the issues confronting the state with the central government constantly and procure the required assistance instead of blaming and cribbing about lack of response.
