Power crisis due to Govt negligenge: Venkaiah

Hyderabad, April 09: Senior national BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu here on Tuesday strongly felt that the present acute shortage of power had arisen due to lack of foresight on the part of the Congress government in the State.

As part of the State Bandh against power crisis, the State BJP organized “Chalo Secretariat” program.
Addressing the protesters at the Liberty Crossroads Junction, Venkaiah said the Congress government in the State never paid its attention to prevent the power crisis though it was ruling the State since the past nine years. The government’s failure to recognize the priority of power supply and lack of proper plans and contingency measures have led to the present crisis only in the State.

Lashing out at the State government for the menacing power cuts, Naidu said the government was shamelessly claiming that scanty rainfall and empty reservoirs were responsible for the power crisis. Stating that Andhra Pradesh went back by 20 years, he bemoaned that industries were moving out of the State due to the power shortage.

Referring to the CBI incorporating the name of Home Minister Patlolla Sabita Indra Reddy as Accused No. 4 in its charge-sheet in YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s illegal assets case, Venkaiah said the prestige of the State government has gone to the wind. He demanded that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy sack all the six tainted ministers from his cabinet immediately if he has any respect for the law and moral responsibility.

State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, senior BJP leaders Muralidhar, Dr Lakshman, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and others were present. When the BJP leaders surged towards the Secretariat, the police intervened and whisked them away to the Nampally police station.
