Potato futures trade higher on high demand

New Delhi, April 22: Potato prices traded marginally higher by Rs 1.90 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 539.80 per quintal in futures trade today on pick up in demand in the spot market. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for May contract inched up by Rs 1.90, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 539.80 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,305 lots.

The potato for delivery in June contract traded higher by Rs 1.40, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 534 per quintal in 1,405 lots. Traders said, firming trend in the physical market driven by pick up in demand against tight arrivals from the major producing regions, Haldwani and Shimla, led to a rise in potato prices at futures trade.
