General Secretary of AP Congress Committee, Mr. Abid Rasool Khan met the City Police Commissioner yesterday and lamented on posting the non-Muslim police Inspectors in Muslim concentrated areas. He expressed regret that Muslim police officers have been neglected in these postings.
He impressed the need to implement Sachar Committee report.
Talking to newsmen later, he said “50 Police Inspectors have been transferred but it is very surprising that not a single Muslim Inspector has been posted in predominantly Muslim localities. He said that Sachar Committee has recommended that Muslim Inspectors of Police should be posted in Muslim areas.”
Mr. Khan said the copy of the letter to Commission of Police issued by Central Secretary to this effect, in which it has been made obligatory for posting Muslim Inspectors of Police in Muslim majority areas. He told that by implementing this report, Government will be able to instill confidence among the Muslims. He told the Commissioner of Police that he is aware of the sensitive areas and the attempts made to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the city.
He has appealed to the Commissioner of Police to post Sub-Inspectors or Inspectors of Police from among the Muslims where the Muslims constitute sizeable percentage of population.
