Post office Passport Seva Kendras soon: Vishnu Vardahan Reddy

Passport operations will soon start at Warangal and Mahboobnagar in Telangana State Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Hyderabad Regional Passport Officer said today.

 

While addressing the media at Hyderabad he also revealed that Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK)s would be launched in Kurnool and Cuddapah in Andhra Pradesh state as well. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Posts recently in this regard, he disclosed. One can apply via online for the grant of passport, the RPO said.

China and the USA are in the first and the second places respectively in the issuance of passports in the world, while India stood in the third place in this aspect, Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy added. The RPO, Hyderabad by granting highest passports got second rank in India he said. This happened consecutively in the years 2015 and 2016, he elucidated.

According to him, in 2016 Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad received a total of 664991 applications for the issue of passports. Out of this 649805 passports were issued. And in  2015, a total of 725976 passports were granted out of 737301 applications received. The RPO, Hyderabad has also got the credit of fastest average time taken for Police Verification process. It was recorded as 5 days. And in 2016, Hyderabad Regional passport office earned the fame of Most efficient Passport Office in Public Grievance Redressal too. During 2014, 2015 and 2016, Hyderabad Regional Passport Office was awarded the best passport granting office Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said. (NSS)
