Positive reaction of P.M. for investigating irregularities in Urdu University

P.M. of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh has given an assurance to investigate the irregularities committed by Maulana Azad National Urdu University in the recruitments and to consider positively the cancellation of the irregular appointments made. Dr. Mahmohan Singh gave this assurance to a delegation of the Action Committee struggling against the irregularities in Urdu University. Mr. S.M. Lal Jan Basha, former M.P. and Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha, Former M.P. led this delegation and apprised the P.M. of the irregularities committed by Urdu University in the recruitments and said that in this University of National level more than 200 non-Urdu knowing teachers were appointed. They are completely unaware of Urdu language. By acting according to their whims and fancies, the authorities of Urdu University, especially the vice chancellor is trying to put an end to the identity of Urdu University. The delegation included Mr. Mohd Abdul Hakeem, President, Mr. S.M. Abdul Qadeer, General Secretary of the Action Committee gave the details of irregularities committed by the University in appointments. On hearing all these details, Dr. Manmohan Singh was wonder struck. He assured the delegation to take speedy and positive action in this regard.

This delegation not only met the Prime Minister but also called on the Minister of HRD, Mr. Palam Raju, Chairman of National Commission for Minorities, Mr. Wajahat Habeeb ullah, (IAS Retired) and Justice Mohd Sohail Ajaz Siddiqui, Chairman, National Commission for Minorities Educational Institutions, New Delhi and gave the details in the form of a memorandum to them. Mr. Pallam Raju, Union Minister of HRD issued written instructions to his joint secretary to present the details to him.

Mr. Wajahat Habeeb ullah and Justice Mohd Sohail Ajaz Siddiqui express their surprise and deep concern on these irregularities and assured to take speedy actions in this regard. Mr. Justice Mohammed Sohail Ajaz Siddiqui fixed the hearing on this memorandum on 23rd may 2013 and instructed the delegation to be present on that day in Commission’s office in New Delhi.

The delegation also met Dr. Ved Prakash, chairman of University Grants Commission, Dr. Syeda Sayyidain Hameed, Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Justice K.G.Balakrishnan, Chairman, National Human Rights Commissions, New Delhi and presented to them a detailed memorandum about the irregularities of Maulana Azad National Urdu University.

The delegation during its stay in New Delhi impressed upon the authorities to take immediate action to cancel the irregular appointments of Non-Urdu teachers and to take stern action against the officials responsible for it, to save the identity of Urdu University, to fulfill the objective of the establishment of the University and to appoint an Urdu knowing Vice Chancellor immediately.

All the officials the delegation met assured that appropriate positive action would be taken to rectify the irregularities in Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.
