Portion of ceiling of Asif Jahi graves building in Makkah Masjid collapsed yesterday, no one hurt

Hyderabad: Danger prevails on the building of the graves of Asif Jahi kings located in the courtyard of Makkah Masjid. Despite the publication of news items in Siasat Urdu Daily on 18th July, in which apprehensions were expressed regarding the dangerous situation of the ceiling of this building, no action has been taken so far by the authorities.

Due to the negligence of the officials and public representatives, a portion of the ceiling of the building collapsed yesterday but luckily, no persons were affected. It seems that no one is bothered about repairing it. Dept. of Minorities Welfare has left it for dilapidation. Last year, Siasat Urdu Daily had invited the attention of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare and had appealed to take immediate steps for its repairs but this appeal was overlooked under the pretext that this building is managed by Nizam’s Wakf Committee.

It may be mentioned that this building is a marvelous architectural monument. The roof of the building has been leaking for the past 5 years. Now, it has started falling down.

The officials of GHMC under the condition of maintaining secrecy disclosed that this portion is in the courtyard of Makkah Masjid. They had informed the concerned officials that it is in a very dilapidated condition but due to the cold attitude of the officials, they could not do anything.

According to the authentic sources, the officials of the Dept. of Minority Welfare have closed down a portion of the Masjid to the public. In the same manner, they are actively considering to close down the portion of the building of Asif Jahi graves. In such a case, the number of worshippers would be reduced.

The Dept. of Minorities Welfare should take necessary steps to repair the affected portion instead of considering to close it down.
