Bhopal: With the growing number of rapes in the state, Madhya Pradesh (MP) home minister Bhupendra Singh said that pornography is the “main cause” of the offence. He has also written to the Centre on Monday to ban all porn sites.
Moreover, the BJP government in the state has blocked 25 porn sites. “We think the reason for rising number of child rape and molestation cases is porn. We are contemplating banning porn in Madhya Pradesh, will approach Centre in the matter,” he said.
“A study by the MP home department revealed pornography is adversely impacting childhood, with even young boys and girls getting easy access to it. Rapes and sexual assaults are a result of access to these sites,” Singh told reporters at the secretariat without revealing the details of the study.

“Though some 25 porn sites have been banned, we do not have direct control over such sites. So, we have urged the Union government to ban all porn sites and introduce a stringent law to control porn,” Singh said.
The MP Home Minister also appreciated PM Modi’s decision to award capital punishment to those convicted of raping girls aged 12 and below.
