Popular Front of India (PFI) carried out unity march to celebrate its 8th anniversary held at Udupi on February 17. Inaugurating the march, Popular Front Chairman, K M Sharif urged all the patriotic Indians to join Popular Front’s struggle for social justice and equality. Sharif also said that, “Popular Front was formed at a time when communalism tried to take over Indian Democratic system and posed existential threat to minorities”.
Even after 50 years of independence we failed to eliminate poverty and social injustice. Country backward classes and minorities were kept way from centres of power. Majority of the citizens are still below poverty line. Demands for justice were oppressed. Muslims, being a community that paid high price for our freedom, they still hold the capacity to lead the country out of situation, he stressed.
PFI also holds similar marches, rallies, public meeting in Kerala, Manipur, and Tamil Nadu.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
