Pope Francis has demanded that “evil” Halloween should be axed, as the number of kids being possessed during the spooky festival has increased.
Father Aldo Buonaiuto, from the International Association of Exorcists, has revealed that calls to his helpline about possessions rocketed around October 31 each year and is petrified that innocent children worldwide are increasingly being “taken over” by demons, the Daily Star reported.
And he and the Pope want the annual celebration of ghosts and ghouls be axed in favour of a prayer-filled “Holyween” to keep kids safe.
Fr Buonaiuto, who has the backing of Pope Francis, 77, said at the end of the International Association of Exorcists’ annual conference in Rome that many say Halloween is a simple carnival, but in fact there is nothing innocent or fun about it, as it is the antechamber to something much more dangerous.
He insisted that there are always more evil rituals, animal sacrifices, desecrations of cemeteries and thefts of sacred bones at the time of Halloween and for the sects it is the best time of year to recruit new members, from where the door to the devil can be opened. (ANI)
