Poor state of education in Kashmir, enrollment in Primary schools dropped by about 17%

Kashmir: The Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat invited criticism when he said that school system in Kashmir is radicalizing students.

According to the article published in Hindustan Times, at the forefront of criticizing the Army chief was J&K education minister Syed Altaf Bukhari who said that General Bipin Rawat is interfering in education system of the state.

But the education minister forgot that education system in Kashmir has become a main concern because the enrollment in primary schools has declined over the years. From 2008-09 to 2015-16, the enrollment has dropped by about 17%.

Instead of criticizing, the education minister must focus on improving the enrollment rates of the schools.

General Rawat is correct when criticizing something that he believes makes his task difficult.

Rawat was not wrong when he said that education should focus on modern and relevant learning because the forces of radicalization were taking the advantage of lack of quality education and lack of jobs, which resulted in the young minds being exploited.
